January Book Club

Come and Tipsy Tee Tavern on January 23rd for their next book club! This month they are reading Educated by Tara Westover, a memoir!

If you like audiobooks better check out the Libre app!
You can select our favorite local bookstore ~ Books on Main so they still get credit for the book sale and you can still shop small!

If you’re a current member or a brand newcomer who wants to check it out, come join us for some amazing conversation!!

Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University. Only then would she wonder if she’d traveled too far, if there was still a way home

Acrylic Pour Painting

Acrylic Pour Painting

Acrylic pour painting combines colors into abstract cell-like patterns on the canvas to create unique artwork without the use of paintbrushes or pallet knifes. Students will learn how to mix color, use pouring medium, the importance of consistency, and how colors interact. Different pouring techniques will be demonstrated. Students will choose which style they would like to do for their personal project. At the end of class, each student will have their own one-of-a-kind finished work of art to enjoy. It takes several days for the paint to dry, so pieces will need to remain on campus for a few days. This 3-hour class is great for beginners and anyone interested in trying a new painting technique; basic materials will be provided.

Nordic Day

Head to Tri-Norse Ski Club & Winter Park to explore the trails for FREE. The inside trails will be marked for snowshoeing or hiking, and if there is enough snow, the outer trails will be groomed for cross-country skiing.

Bring your kids to a “Tri-It” ski jumping session where they will learn to ski jump starting from the 5m hill with some veteran ski jumpers. They are offering 2 sessions Morning (10:30am-12pm) and Afternoon (1pm-2:30pm). They have a limited supply of skis, helmets, and boots for the youth jumpers to use and they STRONGLY encourage pre-registration. They are limiting each session to 10 jumpers and although this is a free event we suggest a $10 donation for equipment use for non-members that can be collected the day of the event.

Warm up inside the chalet and enjoy some food from their concession stand. Take a chance and support Tri-Norse by purchasing some raffle tickets for the 50/50 raffle or the variety of baskets that will be on display. The drawings will take place at the end of the day and you only need to be present to win the 50/50.

Follow their Facebook page for updates or email them any questions at trinorsewinterpark@gmail.com.
